City Council Meeting to Support People’s Budget

Join Charlotte Mecklenburg Climate Leaders at the Monday, April 28 Charlotte City Council meeting to show support for the 2026 People’s Budget. The People’s Budget Coalition supports a variety of human services needs including housing, living wages, safe communities, living wages, great neighborhoods, and the environment.
A key component is a $2,000,000 request related to the proposed new code required for air conditioning. This will fund a pilot program for the City to buy 400 energy-efficient units for rental apartments that currently have no A/C (max payment of $5,000/unit for up to 10 units per owner.
