A broad coalition of local, regional, and national groups is urging North Carolina Governor Josh Stein and the Charlotte Metro Planning Organization to pause the proposed I-77 South Express Lanes project in Charlotte. The $4.3B toll-lane highway expansion would cut through historically Black West End neighborhoods — repeating harms caused by past highway construction during the Jim Crow era.
Charlotte voters recently chose a different future: investing in multimodal transportation, transit, and reconnecting communities — not expanding highways.
Now is the time to speak up and stop this harmful project. Send Gov. Stein a message opposing I-77 today and sign the petition: https://selc.link/3MOCgjW
